Birding at ponds in Guaramiranga region,19.1.2015


Birding in the dense forest was difficult. It was much easier to find birds at the ponds and forest edges around the village.

 One of the very few european species found here:
Common Moorhen (Gallinula chloropus)
Southern Lapwing (Vanellus chilensis)





This was why the Lapwing was so agressive and nervous:

Striated Heron (Butorides striata)
 Far away but unmistakable: Ringed Kingfisher!

Purple Gallinule (Porphyrio martinica)
White-faced Whistling-Duck (Dendrocygna viduata)
Wattled Jacana (Jacana jacana)

Pale-legged Hornero (Furnarius leucopus)
