Verfallenes Spital einer Großplantage. - Wenn es eine Leistung ist, die spärlichen Prunkstücke der kolonialen Besatzer und Ausbeuter verfallen zu lassen, dann haben die Santomeaner recht, dass sie das allen Gästen zeigen.

Weil hier schon viele ahnungslose Resorttouristen Zuckerln oder Geld hergegeben haben, bricht eine richtige Hysterie unter den Kindern aus, sobald ein Weißer, ein "Branco" auftaucht. Warum der dann wie ein Kapverdianer sagt: "ka teng dinero, vai a casa, - hab kein Geld, geh nach Haus", verwundert sie das.
Sehr sypathisch ist uns diese Form von Tourismus nicht. Aber hier haben wir mitspielen müssen.
Some silly tourist must have started giving sweets or money. Now we have this hysteria also here: as soon as a branco turns up, he is at once surrounded by begging kids screaming "doce" or "dinheiro".
We dont't like this kind of touristic set up, - but this time we had to be part of it.
