Burama is a young bird guide from Tendaba on the Gambia river who owns a minibus. He picked us up from the Senegalese border north of the new Farafenni bridge. Now this is the easiest way for us overland from Senegal into The Gambia. After one night in Tendaba Camp and a few interesting hours in his new bird hide he brought us to our destination in Tanji on the coast.

Thanks to Dr. Südbeck for this three-language bird book!! |
This is the hide's first season, so there are new spiecies coming almost every day. When we were there the number was coming close to 100. We were lucky to document the first African Harrier Hawk, a juvenile.
